Over time, HS Sports have forged strong working relationships with our partners in both the world of active sports and sports technology.

HS Sports have been working with British Cycling for many years, and in 2012 the two companies signed an official partnership agreement which saw HS Sports proudly named as the governing bodies “Official Sportive Timing Partner”.

British Cycling was formed in 1959 through the amalgamation of the National Cyclists Union and the British League of Racing Cyclists.

Since the early 1990s, British Cycling has been based at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. Built on the site of an old power station in East Manchester as part of a general regeneration of the area by Manchester City Council, the original Velodrome hosted both the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2008 Track World Championships. The Centre was expanded in 2011 with the construction of an indoor BMX Centre and new offices for British Cycling thanks to an additional £24 million investment from Manchester City Council, Sport England and the European Regional Development Fund to firmly establish Manchester as the home of cycling.

The creation of this home for the sport, along with the introduction of National Lottery funding in 1997, have proved to be the catalyst for the success enjoyed by cycling both in terms of Olympic and Paralympic medals and general participation particularly over the past few years.

Daily operations within British Cycling are overseen by a seven-strong Senior Management Team, led by Chief Executive Ian Drake. Above this sits a board, elected annually by membership at the National Council, which meets bi-monthly under the leadership of Brian Cookson OBE who has been President of British Cycling since 1997.

HS Sports are pleased to be able to offer preferential terms to sportives who are also working with British Cycling and using their Registration platform.  In turn, British Cycling’s sportives team can also offer package enhancements to sportives who also work with us as a timing supplier.  Many sportive organisers have enjoyed the benefits that working with British Cycling and HS Sports can bring, so please contact us for more details on how this partnership can work for you too.

HS Sports have been a partner of Mylaps since the early 1990’s and over the years we have seen automatic identification technology change dramatically, led by this cutting-edge and innovative organisation. Initially known as AMB-IT, they designed transponder solutions for indoor karting and this was quickly adopted by major motorsport events around the world.

Netherlands-based Mylaps are the world leader in terms of research and development for sports timing, setting the standard in automated timing solutions.  Their boast to have invented automatic sports timing back in 1982 is quite accurate, and they have continued to take the sports timing world by storm ever since.  They work continuously to develop new technological innovations that will continue to further enhance the sports industry for years to come.

Every year over 20 million racers and athletes perform in activities timed using Mylaps technology, and it’s no co-incidence that as the largest-and longest-established sports timing company in Europe, HS Sports would have chosen to partner with this world-leading brand.   As both a re-seller and a timer; HS Sports stand firm as Mylaps largest UK customers, and the benefits of this to our event organisers, in turn, are manyfold; our buying power helps us to remain competitive in the market, and as we hold more stock and more equipment than any other timer, we have greater capacity to be able to deliver more, even at peak times where other timers can not.
